Parthiv Patel Brought in as Back Up for MS Dhoni

Mahendra Singh Dhoni will sit out the India vs. Bangladesh Asia Cup match after he suffered a muscle spasm injury. As a result the BCCI have added Parthiv Patel to the squad as a back-up for the skipper ahead of the Micromax Asia Cup T20 opening fixture against the host nation Bangladesh.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni suffered the muscle spasm during the team's match preparation session. Anurag Thakur, the BCCI secretary, said in a press statement that the ODI and T20I skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni suffered the muscle spasm injury in the back during a training session today in Dhaka.

The Senior Selection Committee subsequently has identified and named Parthiv Patel as the replacement wicket keeper for the forthcoming Asia Cup. He will link up with the rest of the team in Dhaka.

Jasprit Bumrah,the Medium Pacer, did not have a training session on the first day. Parthiv Patel has been beckoned to come in as safety measure. The 2016 Asia Cup will be Parthiv Patel’s chance to shine in place of the injured skipper.
